The Ratalina Burnout Car

Original Marketplace Ad

This is the story of the Ratalina. A car that we saved from the crusher to create a burnout car....
A car that would certainly be in the scrapyard if not for Burnouts! Im 58 years old, and I have never in my life built a car for burnouts only....but that world exists now.
So here is the story of an Ugly Duckling that has a new life with a bunch of grown men that act like 13 year olds....

Ratalina 1.0

We found her on Marketplace for 150 bucks with the idea that she would be a Budget Burnout Car for Rats Nest Run In.
We got her home and started tearing into her, looking for cheap parts, and working on her after my crappy normal job....
At this point we were thinking junkyard small block, hei, weld the rear gears, and send it.....

Freddy from FM Auto Shop helped us out with the 1.0 build....at this point we had no idea that there would be a 2.0 or a 3.0
First order was to get her cleaned out. She had a Gbody dash just sitting in there...no need for that, and a bunch or crap you find in a car that has been neglected for years.

Steering First, had a column, but poorly mounted, we ripped her out and built our own mounts.
Now she rolls and steers....
Step one Complete.

Found a small block with turbo 350 on Marketplace for the drivetrain. HEI already on it, and the dude gave me a bunch of stuff that will help get her going.
The Zoomies came off a boat, and were cracked from sitting full of water over the winter....
Bolted the wheels and tires on, shes ready for test Burnout.

Burnout Nationals
Season Opener

We took the Ratalina and Junque Mail to the season opener of the Burnout Nationals in Middletown NY.
EPIC FAIL for both.
Like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
We knew leaving there we needed a 2.0 Build.

Skid Row Fail
Corb Killed it

Ratalina 2.0

After watching what Corbin Boutin did to his 1957 Buick Roadmaster, I wanted the Ratalina to do that!
We struck a deal, and he LS swapped the Ratalina.
5.3 Suburban motor, 140K, Stage 2 cam, Elliot Derby headers.
Then a private Birthday Party at a buddys house that had a burnout pad for testing!

Private Birthday Party

A buddy of ours does a Birthday Party every year and he invited Burnout Cars to help him celebrate!
The Ratalina was lucky enough to get an invite....
First Test for me after the Corb LS swap.
Was perfect!

Happy Birthday...
Best Party ever

Ratalina 3.0

Why not try a Supercharger! We had one that we found on Marketplace that was used for a stock Silverado to make about 100 HP with 6 psi of boost.
We strapped her on, loaded a tune and hit the Burnout Circuit.
Blowers build heat....so we got some really cool photos of blowing the rods out....

Testing at the shop...
dyno tuning....

Oswego Truck Show

Last minute trip to do donuts with my buddies in Oswego NY....very cool night, car did ok until she didnt....then we blew the rods out in a ball of fire!!

Ratalina 4.0

Lets try a 6.0 now....with the supercharger and make sure the intercooler is running.....HOT... Corbin put together another motor, we pretty much burned up everything in the last fire.

ANgry Rats Nest Run In Burnout!

Back to oswego Monster truck show

How could we go a weekend without Burnouts...we loaded up and heade to Oswego Fairgrounds, and..........we blew it up again....but no biggie we have a plan....

Small fun area
Full ride along

Ratalina 5.0

When you cant make it work with a little supercharger, get a bigger one....the car is at Corbs and we are building a Blown 6.0 for her that we hope to have at the season closer Burnout Nationals.
